I think we all know those people who, whenever their birthday comes around, insist they don’t care if anyone remembers or not. They always say they’d rather forget their birthday when they hit a certain age. Well, I’m not one of them. I love getting birthday cards – and business birthday cards are some of the best.
I don’t have a lot of credit cards, but I am a sucker for opening a new one every time my daughter and I are shopping. Some of the new stores offer a nice premium for opening the card and then, of course, you get on their mailing list. Lots of coupons and junk mail come my way, but then so does a birthday card and guess what’s inside it – a coupon, just for me, just because it’s my birthday. These personalized birthday cards, complete with the company name, logo, address, online ordering option – everything to make shopping easy – are always welcome in my house.
It’s amazing how many companies are on the band wagon for sending personalized birthday cards. My mom, a big fan of our local casinos, gets birthday cards from each one of the many places where she has left a deposit over the years. They each include a little “freebie” and by taking advantage of each one of them, an elderly woman is having a great time, and each of the casinos benefits from her visits.
One of our local restaurants even has a birthday club. So on your birthday, you get a personalized birthday card and a coupon for your birthday meal on the house. Of course, people don’t usually dine alone for their birthday, so the restaurant benefits by giving away one free meal, but getting several paid meals as a result of the birthday celebration.
I’m sure from the sender’s point of view, it’s a smart business decision to make sure your company’s name pops up in the customer or client’s mind, but it’s also a nice surprise from the receiver’s point of view for them to know someone remembered their special day. If you ask me, that makes sending personalized birthday cards a “win – win” situation.
I got a $10 off coupon for a restaurant once in a birthday card. We went the next week!
Those coupons definitely work. I always end up going to the restaurant…it’s a win/win situation.
