Millennials, also known as Generation Y or Gen Y, are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.
Millennials are choosing to buy more paper greeting cards over social media and texts. They have learned to appreciate a more personal connection and creative side. Greeting cards today offer digital wizardry if you can’t draw a stick figure and give you the opportunity to choose from pre-made templates and add digital photos.
It’s an old fashioned callback to a more intimate experience. Standing in the drugstore and choosing that particular wording that expresses how you feel. Pops of color and even pop-ups jump from the card to give you a big hug. It’s a keepsake, but it’s also an expression of whatever sentiment you’re trying to convey.
I have definitely noticed this trend too! I think people are getting a little tired of doing everything online. Receiving a card in the mail is such a pleasant suprise!
I am a millennial and I completely agree with this! My generation is enjoying sending and receiving “old fashioned” greeting cards in the mail! We are loving receiving happy messages in the mail. Like a special surprise package delivered right to your door. Love!
I agree. Especially this past year with so much being online the last thing I want was another email. It is nice to get a Greeting Card in the mail for your Birthday or a Holiday. Gives you that personal touch!
Last week was Teacher Appreciation Week and I received a card from the administration. It was great to be acknowledged and it feels good when your work is appreciated.
I still feel it is important to send Thank You cards. It lets the sender know you received it and it was very much appreciated. This goes for personal or business.
I was getting a lot more cards for things during covid. I think it made people look for other ways to connect.
I have started to make an effort to send out cards. I get them from friends and coworkers and it inspired me to do so as well.
I’ve always enjoyed sending cards. Only a handful of my friends do, but great that it is making a comeback.
I take pride in choosing perfect cards for each of my friends. I love to send a surprise in the mail.
