What is Thanksgiving and what does it mean to you? Ask that question to a group of people and you are sure to get a different answer from almost everyone. Thanksgiving is celebrated to commemorate the first Thanksgiving, to celebrate the harvest, to give thanks to God for our many blessings, and the list goes on. Well it is those things and so much more.
Thanksgiving, by its definition is the act of giving thanks…plain and simple. So it makes sense that companies would want to (and should) send business Thanksgiving cards. After all, their “harvest” is a result of their business relationships with their employees, customers, clients, and associates.
We all receive business greeting cards for any number of occasions – our birthdays, our anniversaries, you name it. But what are they really saying? Well yes, I do hope that my insurance agent is sincere in wishing me a Happy Birthday and I’m sure he is. But isn’t he is also saying, “I want to acknowledge your birthday because I want you to know I appreciate you and your business”?
So, in my opinion, if you want to “give thanks” to someone, send a Thanksgiving card…plain and simple.
People often don’t send cards for Thanksgiving so this will definitely set you apart! While many of us get tons of Christmas cards come December, a card received in November for Thanksgiving will be special and memorable.
I personally have never received a Thanksgiving card. I think it’s a great idea and a perfect time to show your thanks and appreciation to family and business associates. It’s sure to leave a lasting impression as yours will be the first card of the season ahead of the typical Christmas rush.
I agree a Thanksgiving card is rare and it definitely will make your business stand out! I do like the idea of Thanksgiving cards since it is simply one of my favorite holidays, so much less crazy than Christmas time!
Thanksgiving has always been a time to give thanks to all that is good in you life….It is also a time to eat without counting calories!! I see Thanksgiving cards that have turkeys, cornucopias, beautifully set tables…but my favorite are the ones that have scenery and Autumn leaves. I received a Thanksgiving card once and I remember it was touching…It is a wonderful time to show thanks and appreciation to those around you…your clients will remember the kind gesture, just like I do years later! Sending one would def make you stand out from the rest!
I don’t think I’ve ever received a Thanksgiving card, but I would love to! So many of us get caught up with the cooking and eating of turkey, stuffing, etc. that we forget to stop and actually be thankful for all that we have. I think it’s a great idea for companies to send Thanksgiving cards to their customers, associates and others that help make their business successful.
