Technology has led to a very impersonal connection we have with one another. Email, texting, facebook, twitter, even if you want to “hangout” these days it means you sit on your computer. I guess at least then you can see another person. The point is our world has changed from face to face, to on the phone, to “Did you get my text?” Because of this corporate greeting cards are becoming a lost art. People don’t want to take the time and consideration to write out a personal greeting when they can save three minutes and send a text. I think this is a huge mistake.
Think back to your last birthday. I’m sure 20 people you don’t ever see said Happy Birthday on your facebook wall or sent you a meaningless text. But how many of you can say you received an actual card? My guess is not too many. However, I bet those of you lucky enough to receive a card can tell me exactly who it was from. This is why you should send business greeting cards. It makes people remember you, it shows people you care, and it puts a personal touch in an otherwise impersonal world.
Your message is right on the money! I just posted your sentiments on my Facebook page so that all 376 of my”friends” could see it.
SO TRUE!! It is nice to get personal attention from a business. And even though I know those cards are sent in bulk, they made the effort. And Gallery Collection cards are nice quality. Not flimsy paper or spam in my inbox. I applaud companies that go the extra mile.
Sending a “physical” greeting card is a great way to stand out and make an impression on both vendors and potential clients…. and even friends! The number of greeting cards I receive for my birthday declines every year so when people actually make the effort to buy a card for me, address it and mail it, the effort really shows.
It’s nice to get a greeting card from a company. It’s not just the business but the individual employees that make up a company and the card reflectsa their sentiment as well. It’s a safe bet to cover all your bases and keep the relationship going.
i still love getting cards, especially through the mail. fb posts and ecards feel really impersonal (especially with facebook letting you know who’s b-day it is and suggesting that you leave them a wall post.) getting a card from somebody let’s you know an actual effort was made.
Oh that is sooo true! I wonder what will happen in 10 years from now, with all this technology…..Pretty soon you’ll be blowing out the candles on a virtual cake!
