Millennials, also known as Generation Y or Gen Y, are the demographic cohort following Generation X and preceding Generation Z. Researchers and popular media typically use the early 1980s as starting birth years and the mid-1990s to early 2000s as ending birth years.
Millennials are choosing to buy more paper greeting cards over social media and texts. They have learned to appreciate a more personal connection and creative side. Greeting cards today offer digital wizardry if you can’t draw a stick figure and give you the opportunity to choose from pre-made templates and add digital photos.
It’s an old fashioned callback to a more intimate experience. Standing in the drugstore and choosing that particular wording that expresses how you feel. Pops of color and even pop-ups jump from the card to give you a big hug. It’s a keepsake, but it’s also an expression of whatever sentiment you’re trying to convey.
Is it important to have a Business Card? Surely, it can help identify us and our business to the party we are meeting or individual. This identifier can give the parties we are meeting an idea of our role in the business at stake. I find myself fascinated by all the details represented on a business card. It is uncanny to see the beauty behind such graphic art, text and color.
I particularly love the industry specific cards, these have the most impact. Business cards really make it hard to forget the contact. The business card should tell the recipient something about you and your business. Very common for dentists, lawyers, realtors and photographers to have industry specific cards. Not only is the face of the card important but the feel of it as well.
More and more you see expensive stocks and finishes being used on business cards. They identify the industry and give you the card holder an identity. The ability to give the business card a personal touch shows us where technology meets new trends. A great marriage between art, paper and personalization in a 3.5 x 2 business card. It is not a lot of real-estate. I am excited to see how technology will continue to affect the quality and function of the business card.
When the subject of working from the comforts of my home was suggested to me, I couldn’t be more excited. I thought about rolling out of bed, pulling out my laptop and moving to my enclosed deck still in my pajamas with a cup of coffee in my hand. I even thought I was going to be able to keep my favorite talk shows on in the background. After about a week, I realized I was not productive and working remotely was not all that I expected.
Being as I am not one to fail, I changed my attitude. I realized that the first step was to put on real clothes…maybe not the suit, but jeans and decent shirt. This helped me get my mind in the business state of mind. I also set up a work area designated just for use during work hours. Besides that bottle of water that I always have at my desk, all eating and drinking is done during my break and lunch times in a different room. Work was back on track but then came the loneliness.
I feel that it is normally much more efficient to communicate with email, but since working remotely, I have adjusted my thinking. In most recent weeks, I have picked up the phone to have that human contact and it has made a huge difference on my mental state. I have also organized a lunch meeting monthly or bimonthly depending on the situation.
There are plusses and minuses to working from home. It is all what you make of it!
One of the hardest parts of life is losing a beloved pet. The pain felt during this difficult time can be so devastating that many have said it is equally as painful to losing a person. After all, pets have become our family members. They provide unconditional love and support during some of life’s most difficult moments.
There is nothing like coming home after a very long and stressful day to the companionship of an animal. Sometimes all it takes is just their presence to take away life’s everyday stresses. So when the unbearable time comes when we must say goodbye to our companions, we often grieve to the same extent as when a person in our life passes away. We often turn to other pet lovers and owners who can understand our hurt and pain.
Over the past several years, sympathy cards have become more and more popular for pet loss. What better way to express our condolences to our loved ones during their difficult time than by sending a sympathy card. Sometimes a few thoughtful words can help the person grieving feel comforted. Unfortunately, I have been there a few times, and I can recall receiving a pet loss sympathy card. It has always helped me through those difficult times. All it takes is a few minutes to show someone how much you care, especially when they suffer the loss of their furry companion.

Whether you flip on the television and view countless holiday commercials, tune in to some Christmas carols on the radio, or attend a holiday party, the same message is constant. People are selling, singing, or talking about positive, happy things during the holidays. This is often very welcome, but it can actually be quite challenging to those who have recently lost a loved one. The sadness and loss are painfully magnified in the light of others perceived utopian holiday festivities. It can become a dreaded time of renewed or increased mourning. If you know someone in such a situation, they might still very much appreciate a holiday card, but the greeting card must have the right tenor to achieve a positive effect. The card must not be too positive in tone while concurrently not become a sympathy card either. Writing a holiday card for such an audience is somewhat challenging, but when done correctly, can positively impact its recipient. The following may be helpful when crafting your holiday card.
Don’t Ignore the Situation – As a friend or family member, you are aware of the struggle at this time of year. It’s okay and actually welcome to acknowledge this fact in an easy, indirect way. It lets your recipient know that you care about their situation without bringing them to the point of dragging up negative emotions.
Send Realistic Good Wishes for the Holidays – Aside from briefly acknowledging that your recipient might be having a difficult time, the rest of your card should be sensibly positive. By sensibly positive, I mean your kind wishes should be things that are actually attainable this year. It might not be prudent to say something like “I hope you have a happy, wonderful holiday season” because that likely will not happen this year. Instead, wishes such as “I am looking forward to seeing you at Joe’s party on the 22nd” or “Hope Edna sends us some of her delicious fruitcake again this year” are achievable aspirations or goals that can potentially bring a smile to your recipient’s face.
We all want to show appreciation to our clients or customers during the holidays. A great and very affective way to do so is sending Christmas cards. Although you can get a positive response from sending holiday cards, you can also get a negative response if you send the wrong greeting cards. You as a business want cards and only cards that represent you in a good way. Here’s a few tips on how it is done.
I recommend sending greeting cards of high quality. Something with class that says we appreciate your business with us this year and want to show our appreciation. I mean cards at your local pharmacy are cheaper but yet flimsy and there’s not a lot of attention to detail going into designing them. I recommend something with good paper that feels strong and sturdy in your customer’s hand and is decorated beautifully. Also I’m just one who believes if your sending something like a greeting card or gift to a client it should be a representation of your company and what you stand for. Try The Gallery Collection’s many choices to choose from.
Don’t for one second think its a bright idea to play practical jokes or test your client’s sense of humor when sending your cards. I mean tis the season to be jolly is true and most of us are in good spirits this time of year, but you still should make sure your company’s reputation is priority. I suggest you only send cards that are tasteful and straight to the point. Please avoid anything that is not appropriate for all ages.
Lastly but certainly not least be aware of your clients religious beliefs. As we all know everyone doesn’t celebrate Christmas so we don’t want to offend anyone. I recommend being mindful of where your cards are being sent and what your sending. Try purchasing a variety box with all the holidays in it for this time of year. Also avoid writing Merry Christmas in all of them as your greeting. Try writing something more generic like Season’s Greetings or Happy Holidays. This is also a category somewhere like The Gallery Collection will come be of great assistance.
So in conclusion when selecting Christmas cards this year keep these steps in mind. High quality, tasteful, nothing inappropriate, and again last but not least be aware of your clients beliefs. Follow these tips and you’ll be a ok. Enjoy your holiday season!
